EU Extends Anti-Dumping Duties on Chinese and Thai Cast Iron Fittings
On September 19, 2025, the European Commission released its decision on the second expiry review of imports of threaded tube or pipe cast fittings made of malleable cast iron and spheroidal graphite cast iron from China and Thailand.
The Commission concluded that removing the existing anti-dumping duties on Chinese cast iron fittings would likely cause dumping and damage to the EU industry to continue or reoccur. Therefore, the EU decided to maintain the anti-dumping measures. The products fall under CN code ex 7307 19 10 (TARIC codes 7307 19 10 10 and 7307 19 10 20).
The dumping investigation period covered July 1, 2023, to June 30, 2024. Meanwhile, the injury analysis period extended from January 1, 2021, until the end of the investigation period.
Background of the EU’s Trade Measures
The EU has imposed anti-dumping duties on Chinese cast iron fittings for more than a decade. In 2012, the Commission launched its first anti-dumping investigation against imports from China, Thailand, and Indonesia.
In 2013, the EU officially imposed anti-dumping duties on imports from China and Thailand. However, the investigation into Indonesia ended without further measures.
Later, in 2018, the EU began the first expiry review. As a result, in 2019, the Commission extended the EU trade measures, stressing that lifting them would seriously harm EU manufacturers.
Most recently, in 2024, the EU started the second expiry review. Finally, in 2025, it decided to keep the measures in place. This ruling shows the EU’s consistent approach toward fair competition and its determination to protect its domestic industry.
What This Means for Importers and Exporters
For businesses importing cast iron fittings, this decision means that anti-dumping duties will remain in effect. Therefore, buyers must continue to factor these extra costs into their budgets.
Moreover, exporters from China and Thailand must remain cautious. They need to adapt to ongoing EU trade measures and ensure compliance. Consequently, accurate cost planning and strong partnerships with logistics providers will be essential to stay competitive in the European market.
Conclusion
The EU’s decision to extend anti-dumping duties on Chinese cast iron fittings reinforces the importance of trade defense instruments. In addition, it highlights the need for importers and exporters to follow EU trade measures closely.
